19 May 2022 • Amman – Wadi Rum
We’re starting early with breakfast at our hotel, then departing by 08.00am. The drive is about 4 hours to Wadi Rum to check in our campsite. Are you ready for some fun? We’ve got a 3-hour Jeep tour of the moonscape terrain T.E. Lawrence rightly described as “vast, echoing, and God-like.” We’ll end the day by enjoying the sunset, then return to our campsite to refresh. Get ready for a traditional dinner and overnight camping, where you’ll have a chance to enjoy the dazzling night skies of Wadi Rum.
20 May 2022 • Wadi Rum – Petra (B, L, D)
Let’s greet the morning with a sunrise camel excursion, then return to our campsite for breakfast. After checkout, we will drive approx. 2 hours to visit the amazing city of Petra. We’ll explore sites including entry by the Siq, the Treasury, Street of Facades, Royal Tombs, Roman Theatre, Byzantine church and depending on our physical condition, possibly hike up over 900 steps to visit ad-Deir–the Monastery–Petra’s largest carved façade. We will return to Wadi Musa for an excellent sunset, then return to Petra to enjoy the night show. Return to our hotel for an overnight.
21 May 2022 • Petra Half Day – Little Petra – Mujib Region – (PCR TEST) Dead Sea (B, L, D)
We’re up and out to be by the gate at 06.00am to proceed again through the siq to watch the sunrise on the Treasury in perfect photographic light, then return to our hotel for breakfast. We’ll check out by 10.30am and transfer approx. 15 minutes to visit Siq al Barid (“Little Petra”). It was the main Nabatean caravansaries point outside the bounds of the city of Petra. Then we’ll drive appox. 3 hours to the Mujib Region, enjoying the lovely scenery of the Namala Route. Once we arrive, we’ll meander on a 20-minute slope walk to the Dead Sea Salts beach for photography. Vogue Magazine 2022 recently did a photo shoot at this exquisite spot. After enjoying this region, we will hike up to our van and continue for approx. 30 minutes to check in our hotel for dinner and overnight. We will arrange for a professional to do the PCR Test for you at the resort tonight.
22 May 2022 • Dead Sea – Wadi Mujib – Ma’in Hot Springs (B, L, D)
Breakfast at our resort, free morning to relax and enjoy the Dead Sea water until our noon check out. We’re off to enjoy the Siq Water Trail; it starts at the Visitor Center near the Mujib Bridge, where we will take the cantilevered walkway over the dam and follow the course of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to the base of a large waterfall. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, the gorge may contain pools deep enough for swimming. This is an ideal walk to take slowly and enjoy the cool water and shade, especially in the heat of the day. Continue approx. 25 minutes to check in our resort at the Dead Sea for overnight.
Wadi Mujib Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old, know how to swim and have a reasonable level of fitness.
23 May 2022 • Ma’in Hot Springs – Mt. Nebo – Madaba – Queen Alia Airport (B, L)
After breakfast at our hotel, we’ll go to Madaba and visit the St. George Church with its famous 6th Century map of the Holy Land. Then it’s off to Mt. Nebo, from which Moses viewed Jerusalem, take in the view of the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho and (if it’s clear) the distant spires the hills, and Mount of Olives. We’ll visit the contemporary church with its display of mosaics from the succession of pilgrimage churches on this venerated spot. How did they do that? Well, we will stop at the Mosaic Workshop to learn about Mosaic Arts. Later in the afternoon we will visit a local family house for a late traditional lunch and cultural exchange visit. We are going to hate leaving, but it’s about 30 minutes to Queen Alia International Airport for departure with the assistance of our airport representative.
